Are you eligible to retire and contemplating retirement soon?
PA98-599 calls for a change in the effective rate of interest and actuarial factors used in SURS Money Purchase calculation. As a result, you may experience a decrease in the benefit provided under SURS Money Purchase calculation if retiring on or after 7/1/14. SURS has completed programming of their Interim Benefit Estimator that will calculate estimates for any future date through 7/1/14. It will allow you to compare your estimated monthly benefit before and after the Money Purchase changes go into effect on 7/1/14.
For a quick comparison, first calculate an estimate with a retirement date prior to 7/1/14, such as 6/30/14. Then, calculate an estimate with a retirement date of 7/1/14. Compare the results. If your estimated calculation for a date prior to 7/1/14 indicates that you are highest under SURS General Formula, you will not be impacted by the Money Purchase changes.
To use the estimator, log onto the SURS website using the member login button, click Benefit Estimator and follow the instructions.
More information is attached, direct from the SURS website.Back to top

Come join the CCN Team - Michelle, Heather, Svetlana, Amanda, Sharon and Kim in kicking off the Campus Conservation National (CCN) energy reduction competition! Look for us at a table on Monday in the commons area between 11-1. Sign the pledge, get a bookmark and learn some ways you can reduce your energy use in the office and at home!
This will also be a good chance for you to pick up your door hangar or key board card! More info on that in Friday's e-news.

Sometime on Friday or Monday, you will all receive either a keyboard card or a door knob hanger. These are for you to use during our CCN Competition as a reminder and to tell others you are saving energy!! Simply place the card on your keyboard or door hanger on your door when you step away from your desk and turn off your lights and monitor. By using this, your colleagues will know you are
“...here today, just not hogging energy!”
If you don’t get one on Friday from one of the CCN Team members, then please plan to stop by the CCN Kickoff event in the commons on Monday, 11-1pm and pick one up there. If that doesn’t work, call the Sustainability Center, x7765.
Competition starts Monday April 7! Good luck, have fun, and win some great prizes!

The first, Autism “Awareness” – Ten Things You Should Know, was produced by a young man just 3 months after his autism diagnosis. He addresses what it’s like to be on the autism spectrum and how to interact with someone on the spectrum. There is a lot of great information pact into this 5 minute video.

An estimated 40,000 women will die from the breast cancer. Breast cancer takes another life every 14 minutes. Another woman is diagnosed with breast cancer every 3 minutes. An estimated three million women are living with breast cancer. One million of them don't yet know it.
With the donations raised, the Avon Foundation will provide support and resources for women and men affected by this terrible disease. This will help so many people in our own community and throughout the country.
It is faster and easier than ever to support the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer — you can make a donation online by simply clicking on the link at the bottom of this message. Whatever you can give will help! I truly appreciate your support.

Throughout April, as part of a Comp 2 student service project, Jersey Mike’s Subs will be participating in the Suspended Food movement. When you visit the Crystal Lake or Lake in the Hills Jersey Mike’s stores, you can purchase a cup of soup to “suspend.” What that means is you can buy a cup of soup that will help someone in need. At the end of April, Jersey Mike’s will be providing your suspended soups for the homeless through Pioneer Center. (They will also be ladling out all your grooviness.)
Peace to all our MCC soup sisters and brothers. (And Bono says, hi.)

Many Thanks to those of you who offered up prayers of good wishes, calls and cards during my recovery while off work this past month. I fell on the ice on our driveway and fractured my left shoulder and chipped my large tuberosity bone. I am back to work this week and am healing well after lots of in-home therapy. Now will begin physical therapy for arm strengthening beginning this week for 4-6 weeks.
Thanks again, to my MCC family for your support and well wishes.
